Go-To Berry Vanilla Smoothie

July 30, 2014

I'm no smoothie expert and I'm certainly not a recipe maven, but this easy smoothie has been my go-to breakfast smoothie a few days a week for the past month or so. It's simple to make and tastes really nice, especially if you pop some extra fruit on the straw to eat as you sip along!

My parents have been on low carb diets, so we've had lots of low carb/Atkins shakes around the house in almost excessive quantities. As I was searching for a good smoothie base, I decided to try it out on a whim. The vanilla flavored shakes usually aren't too bad and can only be enhanced with some fruit! It's low carb and has lots of protein, so I thought it'd make a really solid smoothie base. I was correct.

Plus, this smoothie easy to adjust to please your specific tastes. This recipe will make two glass fulls worth of smoothie, perfect for sharing. I should know - this one is Jack approved!

Needed:
-Blender
-Strawberries
-Blueberries
-Raspberries/blackberries (optional)
-Ice

Steps:
  1. Using a clean blender, combine 1 Atkins French Vanilla Shake with at least one cup of strawberries and 1-2 handfuls of blueberries. This will get you the base of the most basic shake! You can add more or less fruit depending on your taste preferences. I find adding more fruit thickens up the end result.
  2. If desired add raspberries/blackberries.
  3. Add ~4 pieces of ice and blend on low to medium speed until smooth and somewhat frothy.
  4. Pour into a pretty glass and enjoy!
