A Transitional Outfit - Mixed Denim & Boots

August 15, 2013

It's that awkward time of year when it's still ninety degrees out, but everyone is starting to mentally transition into fall. Also, it's that time of year when summer fashion starts going on clearance to make room for fall. It's a confusing time for somebody like me. Though, I'm mentally transitioning into fall - the weather is highly disagreeing with my mental state. Do I want to buy new things for fall? Certainly, but usually I have no idea how to transition from season to season with much success.

So, I really wanted to improve on that! I wanted to take pieces from both seasons and make a nice transitional outfit for this awkward in between time.

I wanted to stick with versatile and neutral colors that would evade seasons, so I picked white, brown, and denim. I went for brown short boots (which are always a fall staple - but summer friendly at the same time) and I tried mixing denims, a trend I had never really backed until now.  Also, I wanted to include some classics like the button down shirt, aviators, and nude lips. I added an element of girliness with a sleeveless white top (that had a little ruffleage going on) underneath my denim shirt and tall white shocks. Add a thrifted brown bag and I was set and some basic jewelry and I was set.

What are some of your favorite transitional outfits/pieces?
