Life lately has been pretty rewarding. It's been about a million degrees here (but what's new, really?), so Jack and I have been trying to keep mostly out of the heat until around seven or later in the evening. That hasn't put a damper on our play though. We've found plenty of ways to keep busy indoors! I've been experimenting with my make-up, especially my lipstick shades. I'm trying to get a feel for what is most flattering on me since I'm really no good at these sorts of things. I've covered my basics, red and pink, so next I'm thinking of trying an orangey-coral color! Lipstick makes me feel wildly more mature. Why is that?

On the Fourth of July I spent the morning celebrating my father's birthday, the early afternoon (like three hours worth of) driving around with my best friend C, and the late afternoon/evening swimming, grilling, and enjoying other festivities with family and family friends alike. It was an exhausting, but really amazing, relaxing sort of day.

Also, let me let you in a not so well kept secret around here...I'm a terrible driver. Maybe it's not so much that I'm terrible, but that I don't like driving, so therefore have successfully been mostly avoiding it for the past few years. I never drove to high school. In fact, I mostly find driving stressful and frustrating. I never got that urge to hit the open road, but I'm coming around to it and trying to find some sort of peace with it. This year I'll be commuting to school and making the three hour drive by myself up to college at the beginning of August (so I've been logging lots of road hours...-commence laughter-). I've even put off buying my parking pass. I know, terrible.
