Dearest Skinny Jeans,

You've been with me since I was about fourteen, maybe fifteen. Bought by my Nana before she became ill, we made the best pair out there. I loved you for your perfect shade of denim (not too light and not too dark) and I loved how stretchy and forgiving you were. We had a long and torrid affair. We've been through skinny days and heavier days. We've been though part of junior high, all of high school, and the first year of college. You've been a staple in my wardrobe, the perfect thing to pair with any chic tunic, gladiator sandal, coat, or heel. We've seen parties in the winter and have seen several relationships comes and go.

You were there in the tenth grade when I decided I wanted to be 'edgy'. I paired you with a graphic shirt, a vest that was way too small for me, converse, and neon socks. I am so sorry for putting you through that fashion nightmare. You were there to be paired with my purple shirt and my purple shoes. You were there to be sported the day my brother was born (3 years ago today). I've had you longer than I've had him. Oh, beloved Skinny Jeans, you were there the day I was lost and sought solace in a church. You were there through photo shoots and trips to the mall. You were there to be peeled off of my body and jumped out of after a long day. You held up for so long.

Until you didn't. Until five years of wear and tear caused two unfix-able rips in the thighs and I had to dispose of you. How will I ever find another pair to compare to how good you've been to me? I can't fathom  life without you and your presence has already been deeply missed. What am I going to wear with my new shoes?
