Red + Snow Update

December 11, 2013

Well folks, we're still in the middle of a Snowpocalypse. Though things are starting to thaw out slowly, but surely, it's still a mess of ice, slush, and snow here. The roads are getting traveled on more and more, but it's still pretty hazardous. The best way of travelling is still by foot and campus still looks pretty picturesque. We haven't been to school in days, but most of us continue to study when we're not sleeping or eating and a majority of us have still been making treks to the different buildings around campus in order to prepare for finals...because surely this can't last forever, can it?

I don't know if I'm cut out for living on the colder edge of life. Props to you lovelies up north who are more used to dealing with these conditions. A lot of my sisters are starting to go stir crazy in the house. People are starting to really stress out and I'm sure teachers are feeling the same. I'm trying not to let myself get to that point of stress. I'm trying to remain calm and utilize these snow days to get work done at a more leisurely pace. I hope that it starts to melt pretty soon and we can go into finals week uninterrupted. Also, it needs to melt so I can make the three hour journey home safely.

Other than that, things have been okay. I've experienced a real sense of comradeship between my sisters and I as we get together in the evenings and attempt to dine together. I feel happy as we take time out to sled or walk through campus to Dickson St for a quick bite to eat. There is a sense of mixed delight as I see boots upon boots arranged in neat rows by the door and on dining room table, a basket full of holiday cookies. Oh, and there have been more Harry Potter marathons than anyone cares to admit.

How do y'all combat boredom when the weather gets bad? Tell me!

  1. Oh gosh, I'm actually jealous of all your snow. But I know how it can be to have cabin fever. But during the holiday season I love blasting Christmas music, learning new dishes to cook, find a new tv series to watch on Netflix, play board games, etc. ;)
